Vortex Bladeless SL is a tech startup, developing an environmentally friendly aerogenerator which needs no blades. It is a new wind energy technology specially designed for on-site generation in residential areas, being able to work on-grid, off- grid, or along with regular solar panels or other generators. Their vortex wind turbine is not actually a turbine, since it does not rotate. It is based on the phenomenon of aeroelastic resonance with a quiet non-aggressive movement.

Wind energy generators cannot be placed anywhere because the large and heavy blades generate risks for wildlife and residential areas. Bringing wind generator close to the final user will facilitate its use and reduce its cost.
La solución
esHPC (BSC-CASE) used a software (Alya) developed for fluid interactions simulations to develop a model with two modules (aerogenerator and fluid mechanics) to generate multiple simulations that can be tested with experimental data. It generated results within a 10% deviation from the experimental model, thus giving valuable information to optimize the design of the product and saving costs in model prototyping.
